Founder and President: Lonnie G. Johnson
Throughout his career as a scientist and engineer, Lonnie Johnson has been driven by a desire to push the envelope of technology. Whenever told "it can't be done," his unfailing reply has been "Why not?" He has extensive experience in the high technology environment, and holds over 80 issued patents (with an additional 20 pending) on a wide range of technologies. In his 19 years with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Air Force, he served as a senior systems engineer on multiple space based programs including the Galileo Mission to Jupiter, the Cassini Mission to Saturn, the Mars Observer project, and the Air Force stealth bomber program. Dr. Johnson is also founder and president of Johnson Research and Development Co., Inc., where he has developed products for the consumer market. His success in this area is exemplified by his invention, the Super Soaker® water gun, which has generated almost $1 billion in retail sales. Dr. Johnson holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, an MS degree in Nuclear Engineering, and a PhD in Science from Tuskegee University. Chief Operating Officer: Anthony C. PaceMr. Pace has over 20 years of high-tech electronics development and manufacturing experience. Formerly with GEC-Marconi Avionics, Mr. Pace was responsible for the planning and operational control of strategic business units involved in aircraft electronics, including participation in the world's first interactive in-flight video equipment, the world's first CO2 laser rangefinder, the world's first automobile heads-up display, and several other projects. During his tenure with Texas Instruments, he was responsible for development and production of various electronics products for military applications. Mr. Pace holds a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a dual MBA (Finance and Management) from Georgia State University. Chief Technology Officer: Ji-Guang (Jason) ZhangDr. Zhang has over 16 years of direct experience in battery research and development.He has served as the Director of Product Development at Macro Energy-Tech, Inc. where he was responsible for setting up a pilot line for production of polymer lithium ion batteries and gained extensive experience in battery design and production processes. Prior to that, he was a senior scientist in the National Renewable Energy Laboratory where he successfully managed several thin film lithium ion battery projects and accumulated extensive experience in both lithium battery and thin film preparation technologies. He also served as a consultant for NanoGram Corporation (Fremont, CA) on the development of lithium ion batteries. Dr. Zhang holds five patents and has another six pending patents in the field of thin film batteries.He also has had more than 40 papers published in professional journals. He received his PhD degree in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Kentucky. Vice President of Business Development: Jacobus F. BoersMr. Boers has conducted business on five continents involving extensive international travel and managed an expatriate assignment in Europe. He has broad experience in marketing new technologies, developing and introducing new products, and implementing large international projects. He directed the development of comprehensive strategies at holding company, corporate, divisional, and product line levels. He managed the planning and implementation of large international projects with responsibilities for technical compliance, financing, procurement, logistics, commissioning and testing. He was responsible for worldwide customer service support, including post-sales technical support. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce, on the Board of Trustees of the Georgia Council of International Visitors where he is currently vice president, and as a member of the Board of Advisors at the Center for Global Business Leadership at the J. Mack Robinson School of Business at Georgia State University. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Georgia Africa Society. Mr. Boers is a mentor to international students for the Institute for International Business at the Robinson School of Business, where he also serves as a part time instructor. South African by birth, Mr. Boers earned a BA degree from the University of Pretoria, an MTS degree from Emory University, and an MBA from Georgia State University. |
